Hiking in Gurgl
From leisurely hiking to summit tours
The mountains around Obergurgl are a true hiking paradise. Start your hike from the front door of Haus Alpenblick. Tours of all levels of difficulty lead you along panoramic paths, through the fragrant pine forests and up to lonely peaks. Obergurgl is already located at almost 2 000 metres, so the route to the three-thousand-metre peaks is not too far away.
Leisurely hiking
Two gondolas carry you up from the valley to the mountain in summer. The Hohe Mut gondola starts in the village centre and ends on a panoramic mountain ridge. From here you can simply enjoy the view of over 21 three-thousand-metre peaks, stop for a bite to eat in the rustic Hohe Mut Alm or take a leisurely stroll along the high-altitude trail. In Hochgurgl, the Kirchenkar cable car takes you into alpine terrain. Spectacular views and pleasurable hiking are guaranteed. The panoramic pass road over the Timmelsjoch also begins in Hochgurgl. You can use bothe the Hohe Mut gondola and the Kirchenkar cable car once a day, free of charge, with your Ötztal Inside Summer Card.
The beauty of nature
In Obergurgl nature shows itself from every angle. In early summer the sides of the mountain are turned pink with the blooming alpine roses. In the height of summer the gushing mountain streams search for a way down and ensure lush green meadows with colourful mountain flowers. In the pine forest the wonderfully scented pine cones are growing steadily, the air is clear and one or another wild animal may cross your path in the mountains or in the valley.
